About the project

Film music professionals, scientists and interested parties are once again meeting in Halle (Saale) for the Film Music Days this year. The industry and audience events showcase film music, composition, sound design and film music production.

Together with industry representatives, artists and guests, the Film Music Days Saxony-Anhalt presents its one-week programme from November 19-25 2023 (motto: Encounters).

The 16th Saxony-Anhalt Film Music Days 2023 is an event organised by the International Academy of Media & Arts e.V. (IAMA for short) in cooperation with the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt under the patronage of Rainer Robra, Minister of Culture and Head of the State Chancellery of Saxony-Anhalt. The Film Music Days have taken place once a year since 2008, with the programme having expanded steadily ever since. Fixed items on the agenda are the conference, the gala concert and the ORCHESTRATION master class for young composers. Since 2019, a post-production workshop with an annually changing focus and networking events have been also added. In cooperation with DEFKOM (German Film Composers’ Union), since 2014, the official presentation of the GERMAN FILM MUSIC AWARD has also taken place as part of the Film Music Days. And since 2020, IAMA has increasingly expanded its programme online with a variety of digital workshop formats plus a podcast since 2022. This means that in the future the Film Music Days won’t just be an autumn event.

The Film Music Days Saxony-Anhalt are unique in German in terms of their orientation. They bring practice and education, professionals and young people, experts and the public together.

The Film Music Days Saxony-Anhalt have welcomed numerous stars from the industry in recent years.
