TOM SPORER

3D-animation expert / CEO of TomSporer GmbH

Born and raised in Austria i started my architectural studies in Vienna during the early 1990s, coinciding with the emergence of accessible and usable 3D software. During that period, 3DStudio DOS was the preferred tool of the trade 😉 My focus shifted towards creating architectural visualizations and 3D animations, which became more compelling to me than traditional architectural work. I embarked on my professional journey at k-effects in Vienna, where I specialized in producing animations and visuals for TV commercials. Simultaneously, I contributed articles to DigitalProduction and taught Softimage XSI, which both enabled my next career move.

In 2005, I relocated to Hamburg and joined Spans and Partner, where I assumed the role of a Look and Shading specialist. Later, I transitioned to VCC Perfect Pictures as the Head of 3D. By 2008, I ventured into freelancing, which soon blossomed into a thriving business. Over the years, my company has expanded, and I now have a team of six dedicated professionals specializing in 3D animation and special effects, primarily catering to the needs of the TV commercial industry.

LUKAS SCHWABE

Nuke Compositing Artist

Coming from a more musical background since childhood, I ever since felt and found love for the impactful way that film tells a story.
Fuzzing around with pictures as a teenager, I started with After Effects while Adobe CS 6 was still a thing, and a few years later discovered Nuke as the state of the art tool for compositing. The goal of creating these “final pictures” with the immense technical possibilities and problem solving that Nuke provides turned out to be an ever captivating world for me.

I continued diving into this art studying film at the Hochschule Offenburg, which led to my first internship as a Visual Effect Compositing Artist at The Marmalade (former Schoenheitsfarm) in Hamburg in 2013. As I already had a tiny bit experience in using Nuke, I was able to get my skills onto a level to continue working as a Junior Freelancer right after that, working for companies like Accenture Song (former Mackevision), Rise FX and Lavalabs.

In 2017, being offered a position as Senior Compositing Artist at Accenture Song guided my way to Hamburg as a new hometown, where I had the opportunity to massively expand my knowledge as a Nuke TD (Technical Director), helping out with programming and developing of pipeline tools and
Nuke extensions.

Ever since I found my personal sweetspot somewhere between these technical and creative worlds, and from 2019 on, I was working as Freelance Senior- and Lead Compositor for many more Studios like Important Looking Pirates, Infected, Sehsucht or Psyop, and eventually made my way from advertising to episodic TV and cinema.
